He is a professor of flute and chamber music at the Music University in Mainz. He was born in 1966 in Belgrade. From 1984 to 1988 he studied at the Musical Academy in Belgrade. He then continued his education at the University of Folkwang in Essen with Professor Matthias Rutters. Dejan Gavrić has won awards at international competitions, including "Maria Canals" in Barcelona (1996 and 2001) and "Leonardo de Lorenzo" in Vigiano, Italy. As a soloist he performed concerts in England, France, Spain, Austria, Italy, Japan and the United States. Dejan is a solo-flute player of Essen’s Philharmonia, Neue Philharmonie Westfalen and Filharmonia Graz (Austria). He is currently a flute and chamber music professor at the Music Department at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz.
He was very pleased to accept the invitation to participate in the Jazz Fest Blagoevgrad 2019 and to play as a soloist with the Chamber Opera Orchestra.
